⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

In what may very well be the best opening episode of any series ever made, Jason Clarke did disappoint as Frank Remnick in one way. Playing a US Marshal in Fairbanks Alaska, Jason has a jogging scene in grey sweat pants. Now, if you’ve ever seen The Leftovers, you’ll remember its first episode also had a lawman, Justin Theroux, jogging in grey sweat pants.
Jason is no Justin. (IYKYK)
But that’s the only fault I could find in this first episode titled, aptly, Blue Skies. In it, a plane full of convicts in orange jumpsuits lands in Alaska where a single convict is loaded onto the plane and marched down the aisle, hooded, masked and shackled, in Hannibal-like pageantry. We’ve found our antagonist.
I won’t say much more about the premise or action sequences in this episode, but it had the edge of my seat energy that WWZ had in its opening sequences.
This polished gem of a series is streaming now on Apple TV+. Created by Jon Bokenkamp (The Blacklist), it stars Dominic Cooper, Haley Bennett, Simone Kessler, Tait Blum, Dallas Goldtooth, and Alfre Woodard with a fantastic score by Ariel Marx.
I don’t usually do reviews when I’ve seen only one episode. But I’m going out on a limb based on this first masterful episode and giving the series a five out of five. And it’s killing me to not give you more about a plot that is Blacklist worthy. But I love ya too much to ruin it for you.
You should watch this!
