Jack Quaid (Fun fact: son of Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid) is fantastic in Novocaine. He plays Nathan Caine, an introverted assistant bank manager (that just so happens to be fucking ripped!) with a congenital insensitivity to pain.

Nathan's co-worker, Sherry Margrave (played well by Amber Midthunter), is a flirt and shows some interest in Nathan. Besides being caught off guard by the attention (and Sherry being out of his league, plot-wise), Nathan be . . . horny. And there in lies the dilemma of Novocaine: making the impossible feel almost real.

And it almost does. But realistic or not, the action is great, funny, well shot, and sometimes surprising. Don't worry too much about where the path leads, just rush toward it heedless of any scrapes or bruises that come that way. It's a fun watch that I recommend. Directed by Dan Berk and Robert Olsen, this movie receives four out of five stars and was released in 2025 by Paramount Pictures.
