⭐️⭐️⭐️

Yes, and.
That's the key to improvisation.
Deep Cover, a 2025 Amazon MGM Studios release directed by Tom Kingsley (Black Pond), takes this ethos — and the audience submission of "crime thriller" yelled from the back row — to heart.
Yes, and this results in a laugh-out-loud, easy watch. The result is fun. Easy.
But "no", also requires a suspension of disbelief that’s hard to come by.
Orlando Bloom (Marton) is an out of work actor who takes his craft seriously, so much so that he's fired from several roles simply because he wants to build a backstory. Imagine a server asking, "More water?" but doing so with the backstory of his sister having an ongoing affair with his husband, Jacques.
Nick Mohammed (Hugh) plays an awkward stockbroker unable to break into the casual repartee of his coworkers. That employee whom everyone knows to avoid.
Bryce Dallas Howard (Kat) is an improve teacher, the only work she can find as a comic, and questions her life decisions when compared to her college friends' success.
When the rule is "Yes, and," it makes sense that these three would become undercover cops trying to bust a bodega owner for selling black market cigarettes, and eventually end up bringing down two British crime families.
It's silly. And Fun. And worth watching. Three out of five stars.
