Mrs. Davis

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Mrs. Davis is a mashup of Sister Act and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, if you leave out the singing and the vampires. It's a combination of the Flying Nun and Terminator, if you leave out the flying and the time travel; or, more like Zombieland's physical comedy and violence swirled with Will Smith's distrust of technology in I, Robot'; minus the zombies and robots.

In truth, Mrs. Davis stands on its own as a fun and ridiculous science fiction comedy thriller where Sister Simone (Betty Gilpin) has a beef with a powerful and omnipresent artificial intelligence called Mrs. Davis.

She teams up with her ex-boyfriend (Jake McDorman as Wiley) who is the leader of an underground Luddite rebellion against artificial intelligence. Their mission: to locate the not so mythical Holy Grail, the only thing that can defeat the AI. Their search for the golden chalice takes them to exotic locales across the globe, uncovers vast conspiracies and corrupt systems, and reveals the truth behind ancient legends and myths.

Tara Hernandez and Damon Lindelof created Mrs. Davis, which premiered at South by South West (SXSW) in 2023 and is now streaming on Peacock. With only eight episodes, it's a fun ride that ends too soon. If you enjoyed any of the comparisons above, you'll enjoy Mrs. Davis. Four out of five stars.
