I'll watch anything with Nicole Kidman in it. Yes, I know about the daughter kept in the floorboards (allegedly) and her penchant for seriously deranged men (fact), but I consider her one of the greatest. Which is good. She is literally in everything.

But it's Zoe Saldana who is the star in Lioness. She plays Joe Macnamara, a CIA case officer in charge of the Lioness program, an all-female team of operatives in the war on terror. Kaitlyn Meade (Kidman) is a CIA clandestine services supervisor and Saldana's boss. Such stunning women together in the same room should make all men lobotomized zombies incapable of speech. But in Lioness, Michael Kelly (Kidman's boss) and Dave Annable (Saldana's husband) are forces of nature themselves.

Lioness has two seasons (16 episodes) and premiered in 2023 on Paramount +. Written by Taylor Sheridan, creator of Yellowstone, the series has received mixed reviews. Saldana is a powerhouse, deserving of the many award nominations and wins. Kidman's character is less developed, and she plays the role stoically to a fault.

If you enjoy spy/military thrillers, you'll enjoy Lioness. Four out of five stars.
